IRVING STREET TO BE CLOSED BEGINNING SEPT. 6
RAHWAY – Construction activities for the downtown
Streetscape Section III-A Project will resume on or about
Tuesday, September 6, 2011 and will continue for approximately
one (1) to two (2) weeks. Irving Street will be closed at the
Union County Performing Arts Center. The road closure will be
necessary for the contractor to replace the brick paver
crosswalk in front of the Union County Performing Arts Center.
While Irving Street will be closed at the Arts Center to through
traffic, local vehicular traffic will be permitted from the
south to access property below the Arts Center. The sidewalk on
both sides of the street will remain open. A detour system of
signs & barricaders will be installed on the adjacent streets to
guide drivers around this temporary closure.
Once the contractor has replaced the brick pavers the roadway will
be reopened, but with periodic lane closures to complete the
pavement resurfacing at the traffic signal, Irving Street,
Central Avenue and West Main Street.
If you have additional questions on this project, please call the
City Engineer at (732) 827-2176.
