WENSON-MAIER ELECTED COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Fifth Ward Councilwoman Jennifer Wenson-Maier was elected
President of the Rahway City Council this evening by her Council
colleagues at the City’s annual Reorganization Meeting at City
Hall. She replaces First Ward Councilman Robert Rachlin, who
was elected Vice President.
Wenson-Maier is a lifelong resident of Rahway, the mother of two
children and the owner of her own architectural firm in Rahway.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the
University of Miami and is a licensed architect and planner.
She was first elected to the City Council in 2002 after handily
defeating her Republican opponent in the general election.
While on the Council, she served as liaison to the Rahway Center
Partnership.
“Jennifer is a professional with a background in planning and
architecture that make her a great resource in a community
undergoing a positive transformation like Rahway,” said Mayor
James Kennedy. “She will continue to be a great asset to the
citizens of our city.”
“I would like to thank my Council colleagues and the residents
of the Fifth Ward for giving me this opportunity to serve Rahway
in this capacity,” said Wenson-Maier. “2006 will be a very busy
year as redevelopment continues at a rapid pace and we face new
challenges in providing our residents with excellent services at
a minimal cost. I look forward working with my fellow Council
Members, Mayor Kennedy and Rahway residents to improve our
city.” |
