CITY RESIDENT PULLS
MOTORIST FROM RIVER
Members of the Rahway Fire and
Police Departments were assisted by the Rahway Emergency Squad,
Union County Police and members of the United States Coast Guard
this morning to assist a motorist whose car ended up in the chilly
waters of the Rahway River.
The driver is a 28 year-old Newark resident
who veered off the road and into the river in the vicinity of East
Hazelwood Avenue and Routes 1 & 9 shortly after 7:20 a.m. She
exited the vehicle and was helped ashore by Rahway resident
William Thomas, a coworker of the motorist at the Woodbridge
Developmental Center in Avenel. She was taken to Rahway Hospital
where she was treated and released. The vehicle was pulled from
the water around 12:30 p.m.
