RECREATION CENTER TO HOST INTERNATIONAL RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS TOURNEY

RAHWAY – Approximately 180 athletes will compete at the Rahway Recreation Center Saturday & Sunday, April 30 & May 1 between 8:30 am and 6 pm as part of the city’s first USA Gymnastic sanctioned International Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition. Admission for each day is $15 for adults and $7 for children 6 and over.

Athletes from Russia, Germany & Canada will compete with gymnasts from New Jersey, New York, Delaware, North Carolina, West Virginia, Texas and Florida.

Rahway will be represented by its own team “Attitude” coached by Tamara Ivankova.  During the competition there will also be two training camps offered that will be staffed by the Russian coaches on Wednesday, April 27 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Thursday, April 28 from 9:00 am to 12 noon.  For details please call the Rahway Recreation Center at (732) 669-3600.

The highlight of the week long programming will feature an exhibition by the Russian Junior Olympic Team and the Team USA’s Megan Griffin at 5:00 pm Friday night April 29 at the Recreation Center.  Admission for the exhibition is $5.00.
