UNITED WATER BEGINS HYDRANT FLUSHING PROGRAM
Maintenance effort will improve water quality
United
Water Rahway will begin to flush hydrants in the city on or
Monday, May 3, 2004 through early June. Crews will work between
9:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. to minimize customer inconvenience.
Flushing
removes harmless minerals that collect in the water mains. The
project is part of our routine maintenance program to assure
high water quality. Customers will have water during the
operation. However, the flushing may cause temporary
discoloration. While the water is perfectly safe, customers
should wait until it clears before drinking or washing clothes
or dishes. This usually takes a few hours.
Customers
with questions or problems can call United Water’s customer
service telephone number at (877) 303-2435.
United
Water Rahway provides water service to more than 26,500 people
in Union County. Customers interested in learning more about
the company can visit the website at
