Hydrant Flushing in Rahway

RAHWAY – United Water is flushing fire hydrants from May 14 to June 1. Flushing removes harmless minerals that collect in the water mains. The project is part of the company’s routine maintenance program to assure high water quality. Flushing also ensures that the hydrants are working properly and are available for emergency purposes.

Some customers may experience low water pressure or discolored water during the flushing process. This situation is temporary. While the water is safe, United Water recommends that residents wait until it runs clear before drinking or washing clothes or dishes.
