RAHWAY OFFICIALS WELCOME MAYOR FROM DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

RAHWAY— Third Ward Councilman Jerry Scaturo, left, and Council President Bob Rachlin, right, greet Bernaro Mello, center, Mayor of Villa Jaragua, Dominican Republic.  Mello was the city’s guest on June 20, where representatives from Rahway gave Mello a tour of the library and presented him with a city pin and portfolio.  The city of Rahway will be collecting used baseball and basketball equipment for Villa Jaragua to build a baseball diamond and basketball court for its younger residents.  If you are interested in donating used baseball or basketball gear, please contact the Mayor’s Office at (732) 827-2190 or mayor@cityofrahway.com.

 

Approximately 20 Rahway families originally hail from Jaragua.  Several Rahway residents of Dominican origin launched a baseball league that plays Sunday afternoons at Rahway River Park.
