NEW WATER MAIN TO BE INSTALLED ON MADISON AVE
RAHWAY -- Mayor James Kennedy
announced that the city will install 900 feet of new 16” water
main along Madison Avenue between Stone Street and Maple Avenue
this summer. Construction will begin on Monday, July 12 and be
completed by late August, weather permitting. The work will be
performed by J. Fletcher Creamer & Son of Hackensack. The road
is not expected to be totally closed during this time, but
motorists are asked to use caution when traveling near the
construction area.
New
water mains have already been installed underneath Madison
Avenue from Stone Street north to the city’s water utility on
Westfield Avenue.
“Madison
Avenue used to see chronic water main breaks that would disrupt
service and make travel down the street a bumpy one,” said
Kennedy. “This ongoing capital project will improve water
delivery and lessen the probability of breaks in the future.”
