ELEVEN STREETS TO BE RESURFACED THIS FALL

RAHWAY – Mayor James Kennedy announced today that eleven Rahway streets will be resurfaced this fall as part of the city’s annual resurfacing project.

The City Council recently awarded a $489,625 contract to S. Brothers, Inc., of South River for the city’s 2005 Resurfacing Project.  Work is expected to begin this month and be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.

The streets that will be resurfaced this fall are:

Patterson Street from Routes 1 & 9 to Washington Street

Allen Street from Kearney Avenue to Donald Street

Church Street from West Scott Avenue to Thomas Street

Union Street from Whittier Street to Church Street

Jaques Avenue from Saint Georges Avenue to West Inman Ave

West Inman Avenue from Jaques Avenue to New Brunswick Avenue

Fulton Street from East Hazelwood Avenue to East Emerson Avenue

East Main Street from East Hazelwood Avenue to East Stearns Street

West Cherry Street from Esterbrook Avenue to Broad Street

Maple Avenue from Saint Georges Avenue to Pierpont Street

Bryant Street from West Lake Avenue to West Hazelwood Avenue.

Parking will be restricted on the above streets during resurfacing, and motorists are asked to use extra caution when traveling through the area.  The streets will be milled and topped with two inches of new asphalt.  Curb repairs will be made where necessary.

Residents may contact the Department of Building, Planning & Economic Development with any construction-related questions at (732) 827-2180.
