RAHWAY TO CELEBRATE ‘HOLIDAY AT HOME’ JULY 4

RAHWAY, NJ -- Mayor James Kennedy announced that the City will be celebrating its first “Holiday at Home” Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 4.  All festivities will take place in the parking lot behind City Hall.  There is no cost for the day’s events.

The fun will begin at 2 p.m. with games and other activities for residents of all ages.  Food vendors will also be present.  At 7:30pm, The Shirelles – known for such hits like “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “Baby It's You,” “Foolish Little Girl,” “Soldier Boy,” “Dedicated to the One I Love,” and “Mama Said” – will perform live.  The evening will be highlighted with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. over the Rahway River.  Garden State Fireworks, Inc., of Millington, is providing the fireworks display.

"This is the first such event in Rahway and hopefully, will be the start of a new holiday tradition,” said Kennedy.  “The city certainly hasn’t had its own fireworks show in over 15 years, and I’m optimistic that this day of fun will help our families come together and celebrate America and our own community.”
