UNITED WATER BEGINS HYDRANT FLUSHING PROGRAM

RAHWAY —United Water Rahway will begin to flush hydrants in the City on or about June 16 through June 30.  Crews will work between 9:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. to minimize customer inconvenience.

Flushing removes harmless minerals that collect in the water mains.  The project is part of our routine maintenance program to assure high water quality.  Customers will have water during the operation.  However, the flushing may cause temporary discoloration.  While the water is perfectly safe, customers should wait until it clears before drinking or washing clothes or dishes.  This usually takes a few hours.
