MONROE ST. RESURFACING TO BEGIN NEXT MONTH

RAHWAY, NJ - Rahway Mayor James Kennedy announced this week that the city will be resurfacing Monroe Street between Clarkson Place and Bond Street next month. The work will begin on or about October 7 and be completed by November 1, weather permitting.

On September 9, the City Council awarded a $116,000 contract to Mark Paving Company of Kearny to perform the work, which is being funded through the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund.

“We’re pleased to begin this work, because Monroe Street certainly suffered as a heavily-used detour for over a year while the East Milton Avenue bridge was being replaced,” said Kennedy. “It’s also good news when the work is funded by the state, minimizing the impact on our property taxpayers.”
