Rahway
residents and businesses are allowed to commingle all of their
newspapers, corrugated cardboard, magazines, books, junk mail
and other paper products. All of these materials can now be
placed in the same container for curbside collection on their
scheduled date.
For recycling information
on other material like household hazardous waste, electronics,
smoke detectors, tires, etc. visit the
Union
County Recycling page.
Because solid waste costs are
continuing to rise, recycling is taking on added importance. By
recycling these materials in your household or business, you can
help reduce our costs for garbage disposal, help preserve our
environment and save tax dollars. In the past, newspapers had
to be separated from other paper materials, which discouraged
many residents from recycling. The new program format makes it
very easy to recycle and we look forward to your participation.
Since its inception, the Division
has saved taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars and
provided the best solid waste and recycling collection in Union
County. This past fiscal year alone, the Division brought in
over $400,000 in additional revenue that benefits Rahway
taxpayers.
Please adhere to the guidelines on
the downloadable recycling map and schedule below. If you have
any questions please call the Division of Solid Waste and
Recycling at (732) 827-2159 or e-mail us
